About Me

I was born and bred in London from German and Iranian parents where I got the earliest possible education in massage, sat behind my mother on the back of the sofa giving her massage as she watched television. I did this for years, probably til I was too big to sit on the back of the sofa, earning 1p a minute. As a child I mistakenly thought that if I worked an hour I'd get a pound until I was corrected that there were only 60 minutes in an hour.

As I got older I would always make myself available to tend to my friends and family's various muscle aches. The more I worked the more I became aware that I had a talent for massage that most of my peers seemed to lack. So I decided to formalise my training and try to develop a career in massage.

My first qualification was back in '93 at the tender age of 25. This course confirmed for me that I did indeed have an ability in this field and actually really wanted to become a full-time practitioner.

I moved to Penrith in 1998 and soon after came across another course that sounded very interesting just about to start in Kendal. I thought that more knowledge would always be beneficial so I signed up and studied hard. The course was excellent and taught me a great deal about Massage, Remedial Massage, Sports Therapy and about being a professional therapist. I stayed on at Kendal for a while longer and qualified in Reflexology and Indian Head Massage to further flesh out my knowledge base.

Since then I have worked steadily away building a business based on word of mouth recommendation. For me it has already been an incredible career so far working on a diverse number of people who rely on their continued physical wellbeing; Farmers and builders, professional and amateur athletes, dancers and musicians.

I get a real satisfaction from being able to help people, some of whom have felt abandoned by the health care system, and making progress where previously there may have been little hope. I look forward to growing my business and using my talent to help more people.

OUR WORK

About Massage

Massage is an ancient therapy that has been practiced in some form in every known culture. From the simplest, instinctive rubbing of an injury it has developed into a system for the relief of muscular injury or pain and is valued for its ability to benefit general health and well being.

Introduced into western medicine in the early 19th century, massage has become more and more popular as people have seen that there are very real benefits to a non-invasive and non-chemical hands-on therapy.

The complexity of the body's musculo-sceletal system and the functions of balance and motion together with the demands that we place upon ourselves, whether postural, recreational or occupational, mean that our muscles are open to injury for many and varied reasons.

Following a thorough consultation to ascertain the probable cause and extent of the problem we will work together to devise a suitable and achievable treatment plan to restore proper muscle function.

The treatment may include massage to ease muscle tension, break adhesions or scar tissue; exercise to restore muscle tone or stabilise joints; and stretching to release shortened muscles as required by the individual.

Whether you have a particular muscle problem, are recovering from injury or just need to relax massage is the first and most effective treatment for you.

Testimonials

Here are some kind words from some of my clients;

I am a 45 year old martial arts instructor and as such I push my body quite hard from time to time. I have been working with Tom for a couple of years now and visit him every other week to take care of any unhelpful holding patterns, injury or stress in the body. Prior to working with Tom, I tried a number of physio's, Osteopaths and massage therapists etc, in the hope that I could find someone knowledgeable and intuitive about keeping ones body on track and in top shape. Tom is the best massage therapist I have met and we discuss my training goals, needs and development and then he also pinpoints areas that need work, which helps keep me functioning at a high level in my training. Without Tom's help I would likely be compounding old injuries and picking up new ones along the way. I recommend Tom to all my students and friends.

Mr I R, Penrith

I had spent a few years training intensively for road racing, but found that the more I did, the more my performance seemed to plateau. After a recommendation from a friend, I contacted Tom to book a session with him to see if massage would make any positive difference to my lack of form. I had never had a massage before, and, if I’m being honest, I didn’t think it could have a significant impact. Tom listened to my views on the problem, and then shared his thoughts and explained what he intended to do to assess and then treat any issues. The results of the first session can only be described as a revelation! My explanation of what happened is that Tom ‘unlocked’ the potential in my legs. He would describe it in a more medical, yet clearly understandably manner! Since that first session, I have visited Tom about once a month on average. My performance on the bike has improved each season since then, and, now in my mid-forties, I am riding stronger than ever. I cannot recommend Tom’s work highly enough, and consider my involvement with him as the single key factor in my performance gains since that first session with him. Mr C C – Road Cyclist, Cumbria
